Mevr. Dr. Annie Jourdan is UHD aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, bij de vakgroep Europese Studies. Haar laatste publicaties betreffen studies over de Franse Revolutie in verband met andere revoluties (La Révolution, une exception française?, Flammarion 2004); over Napoleon en zijn belangstelling voor cultuur (Napoléon. Héros, Imperator, Mécène, Aubier, 1998); over Napoleon en zijn invloed in de Franse geschiedenis (L'empire de Napoléon, Champs Flammarion, 2000; en Mythes et légendes de Napoléon, Privat, 2004). Tenslotte moet nog genoemd worden: Napoléon, le monde et les Anglais. Guerre des mots et des images, Autrement, 2004 - in samenwerking met J.-P. Bertaud en A. Forrest). Haar laatste publicatie is La Révolution batave entre la France et l'Amérique, Presses Universitaires de Rennes,2008. Als editor heeft zij Louis Bonaparte, roi de Hollande, Nouveau Monde édition, 2010 uitgegeven.
Annie Jourdan is associate professor at the University of Amsterdam, European Studies. She was visiting professor at the University of Sussex (2007) and at the Florida State University (2010).
Her research interests are primarily in revolutionary and napoleonic studies. At the moment, she is working on the foreign influences and transnational political and cultural transfers that could be important to better understand the French Revolution and its actors. She has published a first article on this issue in the Proceedings of the Western Society for French History, no.35, 2007: The "Alien Origins" of the French Revolution: American, Scottish, Genevan and Dutch Influences. This research is the logical extension of her research on political and cultural transfers during the revolutionary era.
