Introduction

I joined the Department in August 2010 after studying for my PhD at the
University of Essex (UK) and my BA at the University of Genoa (Italy). I
have also spent some time studying at Paris VI and Institute Du Monde
Arabe in Paris, France.

My current research deals with civil wars and peacekeeping. My broader
research interests include collective political violence, state
development, and comparative politics in Africa and Middle East. My work
has been published or forthcoming in Journal of Conflict Resolution,
 Journal of Peace Research
, International Interactions and edited volumes.

My research uses quantitative methods and Geographical Information
System (GIS), and I am very interested in combining qualitative and
quantitative research methods.

Ihave recently received a research grant from the Folke Bernadotte Academy
(Sweden) for creating an automated event dataset on peacekeeping
operations.

I am member of  the Research Programme on Political Economy and Transitional Governance (PETGOV)
.

Since 2011 I am an elected counselor of the steering committee of the Network of European Peace Scientists.

During the Academic Year 2012/2013 I will be on Research Leave since I have been granted an Early Career Fellowship by the Independent Social Research Foundation.
