Bio

I am currently working as a researcher/lecturer at Child Development and Educational Sciences (CDES). In the first semester I teach Methods and Statistics in Educational Sciences in the CDES research master. In the second semester I teach 'Toegepaste Methodenleer en Statistiek' or TMLS, a second year bachelor course on research methods and statistics. My research focuses on quantitative measurement in psychology. In my PhD thesis I investigated the possibilities and benefits of combining representationalmeasurement theory and psychometric latent variable modeling to ascertain the measurement level of psychological properties and the risk of inferential error when performing parametric tests. I studied Psychological Methods at the University of Amsterdam where I obtained a MSc in psychology in 2004. It took me a while, but that's because during my study I taught a research methods course and a programming course during a period of three years. I also supervised many student research groups. In april 2005 I started as a PhD student on a project entitled 'admissible statistics from a latent variable theory perspective', which I defended in January 2011. I am still very much interested in teaching and developing courses. I helped develop the new and improved curriculum for the Psychological Methods Bachelor Program and coordinated the bachelor program in 2009. See the link below for the course descriptions. Besides doing research and teaching I was president of the UvAPro, the PhD student association of the UvA, that monitors policy changes, signals structural problems and organizes lectures and workshops. See the link below for more info. I am also involved with the Society for Mathematical Psychology. I helped organize the 2009 conference and created an maintain the society and conference websites, again, see the link below!
