Christian Bröer
I have recently won two prizes for articles, see the link below.
Dear visitor,
This site provides you with an overview of my scientific activities.
My central scientific concern is with the origins of social problems. Particularly I want to find out if and how the subjective experience of a problem is shaped by social and political processes. I am looking at aircraft noise, environmental risk and health problems in particular.
Below you find ashort summaryof my PhD thesis on aircraft noise annoyance, which I defended December 2006. Above the picture is a link to the full text.
In 2007 I started to investigate protests against mobile phone masts. I received a grant for this from The Netherlands Council for Scientific Research (NWO). Furthermore I collaborate with the RIVM (the national institute for public health and the environment) in an international health risk perception research.
Also, I am conducting research on the experience of ADHD (with Marjolijn Heerings). The first results are forthcoming in Sociology of Health and Illness.
Together with Jan Willem Duyvendak, I am leading the program groupd Dynamics of Citizenship and Culture at the AISSR.
There are two publications tabs here, the second one is more encompassing. You can contact me on c.broer-at- uva.nl .
Best regards, Christian Bröer
