Short Bio


Catherine de Vries holds a Chair in Political Behavior at the University of Geneva. In addition, she is an affiliated Professor in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. Previously, she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES), the European University Institute and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She studied political science at the University of Amsterdam and the Free University Berlin and conducted her dissertation research at the Free University Amsterdam and the University of North Carolina atChapel Hill. Her general research interests include comparative political behavior and public opinion, political parties and party strategy, European integration and quantitative research methodology. Her articles have appeared in journals such as British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies or the European Journal of Political Research. She has been awarded a VENI grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) to conduct a cross-national study into the politicization of issues relating to European integration in national election campaigns from 1988 to 2008 (project runs from 01/01/09 to 31/12/12).
