Dana Niculescu has been assistant lecturer at the University of Amsterdam since September 2004, teaching Romanian language and linguistics at the Department of Romanian Language and Culture. In the period 2001-2004 she worked as an assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest, Romania.

In 2008 she defended her PhD thesis on Means of Expressing the Relationship of Possession in Romanian, under the guidance of Prof. dr. G. Dindelegan, University of Bucharest.

Her research interests lie in the field of Romanian language structure and evolution, especially in the morphosyntax and semantics of the Romanian noun phrase.
