Developmental changes in cognitive control
Acting effectively in non-routine situations to achieve our behavioural goals, by monitoring and adjusting our performance, helps us adjust to a dynamically changing environment. This ability, to flexibly control and orchestrate thoughts and actions, is known as cognitive control. Silvan Smulders studies age-related changes in the development of cognitive control.
