Venous thromboembolism occurs when a blood clot that starts in a vein breaks loose. When such a blood clot travels to the lungs it can become a pulmonary embolism. Suzanne Bleker focuses on several clinical aspects of venous thromboembolism in special patient populations, including women, cancer patients.
