Curriculum vitae

Frank Groothuijse studeerde in 2004 af in Nederlands recht aan de Universiteit van Utrecht met als specialisatie omgevingsrecht. Hij is sindsdien als promovendus werkzaam geweest bij de Disciplinegroep Staats- en bestuursrecht en verbonden geweest aan het Centrum voor Omgevingsrecht en -beleid van de Universiteit Utrecht totdat hij in maart 2008 de overstapmaakte naar het Centrum voor Milieurecht van de Universiteit van Amsterdam, alwaar hij thans is aangesteld als onderzoeker/docent. In die hoedanigheid verricht hij onderzoek en geeft hij onderwijs op het omgevingsrechtelijke terrein. Ook participeert hij in verschillende postacademische cursussen op dat terrein. Op 5 juni 2009 is hij gepromoveerd op zijn dissertatie ‘Water weren. Het publiekrechtelijke instrumentarium voor de aanpassing en bescherming van watersystemen ter voorkoming en beperking van wateroverlast en overstromingen'. Frank Groothuijse is redactielid bij het Tijdschrift voor Omgevingsrecht en medewerker bij het Tijdschrift voor Milieu en Recht.  

Curriculum vitae (English)

Frank Groothuijse received an LL.M. in Law with a focus on environmental law from Utrecht University in 2004. In the same year, he started his Ph.D. research at the Centre for Environmental Law and policy at Utrecht University, which is part of the Department of Administrative and Constitution Law. In March 2008 he took up the post of Lecturer/researcher at ACELS, specialising in environmental and spatial planning law. His Ph.D. research, entitled Water weren (Resisting Water), concerns the public law instruments for overcoming present and future water problems, focusing on the relationship between water law and spatial planning law. Frank Groothuijse lectures in the area of environmental law at Bachelor and Master levels and is also involved as a lecturer in several post-graduate courses on environmental law. He is a member of the editorial board of Tijdschrift voor Omgevingsrecht (the Journal for Environmental Law) and a contributor to Tijdschrift voor Milieu en Recht (the Journal for Environment and Law).
