[English text below] ---- Maarten Doorman is filosoof, criticus, dichter en essayist. Hij is bijzonder hoogleraar Journalistieke Kritiek van Kunst en Cultuur vanwege Stichting de Volkskrant. Verder is hij filosoof aan de Faculteit Cultuur- en Maatschappijwetenschappen van de Universiteit Maastricht. Recente boeken zijn Art in Progress. A Philosophical Response to the End of the Avant-Garde (2003), De romantische orde (2004), Paralipomena. Opstellen over kunst, filosofie en literatuur (2007) en Denkers in de grond. Een homerun langs 40 graven (met foto's van Fredie Beckmans). Doorman studeerde cum laude af op het pessimisme van Arthur Schopenhauer en promoveerde met een proefschrift over vooruitgang in de kunst. Hij was redacteur van de literaire tijdschriften De Tweede Ronde, Hollands Maandblad en van het filosofische tijdschrift KRISIS. Daarnaast schreef hij over filosofie, literatuur engeschiedenis voor NRC Handelsblad (1987-2005), Vrij Nederland (1988-1990) en de Volkskrant (1993-95) waarvan hij sinds 2006 weer medewerker is. Doorman was te gast bij vele radioprogramma's en jarenlang vast panellid bij VPRO's tv-programma Zeeman met boeken. Verder publiceerde hij zes dichtbundels (zie onderste link), zijn poëzie verscheen in tientallen bloemlezingen. Maarten Doorman is Professor of Criticism of Arts and Culture at the Department of Media Studies, University of Amsterdam and Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy at the University Maastricht. He was editor of the literary magazines De Tweede Ronde, Hollands Maandblad and the philosophical journal Krisis and a critic of philosophy, poetry and history of ideas for NRC Handelsblad (1987-2005), Vrij Nederland (1988-1990) and de Volkskrant (1993-1995, 2006-). He has been contributor to many journals and newspapers with articles about philosophy, art and literature. His last books are Art in Progress. A Philosophical Response to the End of the Avant-Garde (2003), De romantische orde (2004) and Paralipomena (2007).
