Bio

Drs. Inge Molenaar is a PHD student at the university of Amsterdam, Research Institute Child Development and Education. Her research is dealing with scaffolding of self regulated learning in innovative learning arrangements (see project description). Her goal is to effectively support students to optimally development their talents. The development of metacognitive skills (learning to learn) is very important to support students to act as self regulated learners. Dynamic scaffolding to develop metacogntive activities has been the focus of her recent work in the European- sponsored development project AtGentive and the related NWO-PROO research project. Her ambition is to developed technology enhanced learning environments, with dynamic scaffolding and adaptive learning materials. This ambition is driven by the knowledge that students receiving dynamic and adaptive education outperform students receiving standard education by1standard deviation (Bloom, 1984).

She is also the initiator and CEO Ontdeknet bv. The e-learning application Ontdeknet supports collaboration between expert in society and students since 2001. She received different national and international awards and grants for the development of Ontdeknet.  Recently, Ontdeknet and Jool have developed a educational repository service (Samendelen), which is used by SURF for the higher education institutions and by Kennisnet to support Wikiwijs the national repository for elementary and secondary education.Inge is part of several expertise groups with regard to educational metadata standards and the adaptive assignment of learning materials.

Inge  holds two bachelor’s and master’s degrees one in cognitive psychology and one in international business administration both obtained atthe University of Maastrichtwith additional credits from the University of Hawaii, University of Minnesota and the Universite Libre Bruxelles. Before starting up Ontdeknet, she worked on the development of virtual communities of practices for KPN learning center(national telecom company) and as an applied researcher in several European projects about ICT and innovation in education for the University of Amsterdam.
