After a BA in Dutch Language and Literature (U of Amsterdam) I continued with an MA in Linguistics (U of Amsterdam). PhD:  1989, University of Tilburg.

Teaching: Dutch Linguistics (0.5 fte: 1980 - 1988) -- Linguistics (1981 until present) -- Afrikaans Linguistics (1988 - 2000) -- German Lingistics 1998 until present)

Various positions at the University of Amsterdam, all of them in the Faculty of Arts (now: Humanities).. My preent position derives from  a parttime associate professorship in General Linguistivs (1990) and a parttime assistant professorship in Afrikaans Studies (since 1988)..
