At present I am mainly working on the structure and the history of Cape Dutch Pidgin (17th and 18th centuries) and Afrikaans. (Cf. the selection of publications below.) Due to my work on these languages I have developed an interest in the typology .of possessive structures

After having finished my book on Afrikaans, I will continue with my work on Cape Dutch Pidgin, which must i.a. lead to an electronic data base. Furthermore I will return to the study of "free word order" and verbal clusters in Continental West Germanic.
