Education

Jan H. (Huibertus) van de Beek studied mathematics at Utrecht University and got his MSc in 1997. He graduated on the development of the infinite series concept in seventeenth century British mathematics.

In 2002 he received his M.A. in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. His thesis dealt with the public debate and government policy with regard to asylum seekers.

PhD Thesis

In 2010 he received his PhD at the Amsterdam Institute for Social science Research AISSR. His (Dutch) thesis (Kennis, Macht en Moraal: De productie van wetenschappelijke kennis over de economische effecten van migratie naar Nederland, 1960-2005) deals with the production of scientific knowledge on the economic effects of immigration to the Netherlands during the period 1965-2005. It has been published at Amsterdam University Press (see link).
