Biography

Vincent Kuitenbrouwer (1978) studied history at the University of Amsterdam where, after a stay at Aberdeen University, he graduated on a dissertation about the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. In 2004-2005 he studied at the University of Oxford (St Antony's College) where he obtained the degree Master of Studies in Imperial and Commonwealth History. Between 2004 and 2009 he was affiliated to the University of Amsterdam as researcher and he obtained his PhD in February 2010 after defending his thesis A War of Words. Dutch Pro-Boer Propaganda and the South African War (1899-1902). He currently is lecturer at the history department and managing-editor of the A-rated journal Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis.

Vincent Kuitenbrouwer is specialised in nineteenth- and twentieth-century imperial history, and has a special interest in the cultural aspects of the British and Dutch empires.

Vincent Kuitenbrouwer (1978) studeerde geschiedenis aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam waar hij, na een verblijf aan de Universiteit van Aberdeen, in 2002 afstudeerde op een scriptie over de Royal Scottish Geographical Society. In het studiejaar 2004-2005 verbleef hij aan de Universiteit van Oxford (St Antony's College) waar hij de graad Master of Studies in Imperial and Commonwealth History behaalde. Tussen 2004 en 2009 was hij als promovendus verbonden aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam waar hij in februari 2010 promoveerde op het proefschrift A War of Words. Dutch Pro-Boer Propaganda and the South African War (1899-1902). Hij is als docent verbonden aan de capaciteitsgroep Geschiedenis. Daarnaast is hij redactiesecretaris van het Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis.

Vincent Kuitenbrouwer is gespecialiseerd in de geschiedenis van de Europese expansie in de negentiende en twintigste eeuw, met name de culturele aspecten van het Britse en Nederlandse imperialisme.
