Home

Katalin Cseres obtained her university degree in law (1999, cum laude) at the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, Hungary.

She obtained her Ph.D. title from the University of Utrecht in 2004. Her Ph.D. thesis deals with the topic 'Competition Law and Consumer Protection'. Since 2003 she is an associate professor of law at the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance (ACELG). At ACELG she is a co-program leader of the research program 'Compound Constitution(s) of Europe'. She is also a research fellow in the interdisciplinary Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics, ACLE, being the joint venture between the Legal and Economics Faculties of the UvA. She is a member of the ACLE research program "Competition and Regulation". She is editor to Legal Issues of Economic Integration.

Her main fields of interest are competition law, consumer protection, comparative law and economics and institutional economics. Her publications deal withthe interplay between consumer protection, private law and competition law and more general aspects of regulation with emphasis on the institutional and economic angles of law enforcement. Her publications extend beyond European law to American antitrust law and the legal systems of the Central and Eastern European countries.
