Background

Mireille Bogaart received a LL.M in Law at Leiden Law School in 2004 (Criminal Law and International and European Law, both cum laude). After graduating, she worked for three and a half year as an attorney at law at the law firm Pels Rijcken & Droogleever Fortuijn. In this capacity, she handled cases involving spatial planning law and environmental law, with special emphasis on nature conservation law and water law. In 2008, she started her PhD research at ACELS. Her research concerns flexibility in European directives on water and air quality. This research is supervised by Prof. Dr. Marc Pallemaerts and Prof. Dr. Rosa Uylenburg. Besides the topic of her research, she frequently publishes on nature conservation law. Mireille is a member of the editorial board of the Tijdschrift Gezondheidsschade, Milieuschade en Aansprakelijkheidsrecht (journal of health damage, environmental damage and liability law)
