Bio

Pepita Hesselberth completed her MA in Film and Television Studies (with distinction) at the University of Amsterdam in 1999. Since then she has taught at the University of Amsterdam (1999-2001) and University Utrecht (2001-2007). Currently she is writing her dissertation entitled Chronoscopy: Affective Encounters with Cinematic Temporalities, which is expected to be completed by early 2012. For this project she received a Fellowship in the area of “Philosophy, Cinema, and Cultural Theory,” co-hosted by The Copenhagen Doctoral School in Cultural Studies, Literature and, the Arts (CDS) and The Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA). She is the organizer of the first two NECS Graduate Workshops (2010 and 2011), and co-editer, together with Thomas Elsaesser, of the textbook Hollywood op Straat: Film en Televisie Binnen de Hedendaagse (Audiovisuele) Cultuur (Amsterdam: Amsterdam University Press/ Vosius, 2000).
Pepita is a member of the Imagined Futuresresearch group at ASCA, as well asof theNordic Research Network on The Culture of Ubiquitous Information. She is  an active participant in the international workshops and doctoral seminars organized by the CDS.
