Research
Sanne Frequin (1983) finished a Bachelor’s degree in History of art at the University of Utrecht in 2007, followed by a research master in Art at Amsterdam University . She graduated cum laude on a thesis entitled 'Les pleurants. Pourquoi pleurent-ils? Een onderzoek naar middeleeuwse grafsculptuur.'
In September 2011 she started working on a PhD thesis at the University of Amsterdam concerned with the secular message displayed through the tombs of medieval Burgundy (1315-1467) . In this research project the message will be investigated in the context of display of power. Subject is the way tombs have functioned as a propagandistic tool for the dead, and more important, for the surviving relatives.
