Persoonlijke gegevens

Studeerde in 1985 af aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, promoveerde in 1992. Zij is als universitair docent verbonden aan de Afdeling Politicologie van de UvA. Haar belangrijkste publicaties liggen op het terrein van de (geschiedenis van) politieke theorie, met name democratietheorie, en op het terrein van de vergelijkende politicologie. Haar huidige onderzoek richt zich op vergelijkend onderzoek naar radicaal rechtse populistische partijen in West-Europa.
Zij is gespecialiseerd in beleidsonderzoek op het terrein van en betrokken bij verschillende praktische initiatieven tot vernieuwing van de democratie, onder meer in opdracht van WRR, VROM en Instituut voor Publiek& Politiek. Daarnaast heeft zij als visiting fellow aan de ANU/Canberra onderzoek gedaan naar deliberatieve designs in Australië.
