Research interests
My research mainly focuses on two areas:
(1) The aetiology and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Current research topics: - Aetiology and treatment of PTSD following early-onset chronic interpersonal trauma - The role of rumination in the maintenance of PTSD - Mechanisms of change in PTSD treatment
2) The role of repetitive negative thinking (RNT) - such as rumination and worry - across disorders Current research topics: - Preventing depression and anxiety disorders by targeting worry and rumination (ZonMw grant) - Differences between functional and dysfunctional forms of RNT - Development and validation of a content-independent measure of RNT - Similarities and differences of RNT between different disorders
Additional research interests include the role of emotion regulation deficits in emotional disorders and factors involved in the comorbidity of PTSD and substance use disorders.
